About PetWise

PetWise is an independent website with free calculators for dog and cat owners. It was started by the Crushjs Team after too many late-night searches for questions like "is this much chocolate dangerous for my dog?" that turned up a different answer on every site, usually without a source.

What we believe

  • Show the source. Every calculator names the veterinary reference its formula comes from and shows each step of the math.
  • Be clear about limits. A calculator can't examine your pet. We say plainly when a result means "call your vet now".
  • Your numbers are yours. All calculations happen in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us.

How we keep results accurate

Our calculators are based on published veterinary references, including the WSAVA Global Nutrition Guidelines, the AAHA canine and AAHA/AAFP feline life stage guidelines, International Cat Care, and the Merck Veterinary Manual. Where a figure is an estimate or a rule of thumb, we say so on the page. When guidance is uncertain, we choose the safer figure, for example using values near the top of the published ranges for theobromine in chocolate. We review the guides regularly and update them when guidance changes.

Important note

PetWise provides general information only. We are not veterinarians, and nothing on this site is veterinary advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan. If your pet is unwell or may have eaten something toxic, contact your vet or an emergency animal clinic right away.
